Child's Farm Report

What comes up in your mind when you hear a word “sheep”? Wools, maybe?
What we recognize as sheep today is originally “ovis musimon” that were domesticated for its wool and meat. From a single sheep we can get about 4.5kg of wools, enough to make 2 suits out of it. Also, wool contains an oil called “lanoline” used for making hand creams or other cosmetics. This lanoline sheds water away which helps sheep to keep themselves dry in a rain. Our hands get quite oily when we fleece them.
From long time ago, people say count sheep when you can’t go to sleep but do you know why? According to one estimate, it is because “sheep” sounds like “sleep”. But I also think that their warm fluffy look makes us relax and sleepy. And as I talk about them, I am getting sleepy now…
